FundsNetwork: We’re ready for the pension revolution

By Pat Shea, Head of FundsNetwork

Following the Chancellor’s momentous announcements on retirement last year, the new era of choice and freedom in retirement is almost upon us. As I mentioned in the November issue of Fwd: magazine, the changes represent an enormous opportunity for advisers and at FundsNetwork, we’ve been working hard to make sure you can take full advantage from day one.

I’m delighted to confirm that, whatever your clients’ needs may be, our pension was ready from 6 April. The new technology and system changes are all in place and have been comprehensively tested. All the new forms and literature are now available on our website, and our service teams are fully trained and ready to assist you in any way. So, if your clients are intending to stay within a capped drawdown arrangement, want to take advantage of flexi-access drawdown or are looking to take Uncrystallised Funds Pension Lump Sums, we’re all set to go.

The pension reforms will, of course, result in many more clients taking advantage of drawdown. Accordingly, managing clients’ retirement income requirements will be a key growth area for most advice firms. As asset allocation and income withdrawal rates are crucial within a drawdown portfolio, clients will rely on your expertise in these areas more than ever before.
